I've not been doing much since Semester 3.2 started because I only have internship and Major Project this semester. My internship in Australia was more like a holiday than an internship really, and Major Project (which I'm currently doing) doesn't require me to go to school everyday. I was planning to start work after I (unofficially) graduate in late March till I start university in late July, but I kept feeling so unproductive at home....... thus my itchy hands went to apply for a job.
The new mall in Punggol, Waterway Point, just opened last week (18 Jan) and it's really near my home, so I went to apply for work at a new F&B kiosk there. I applied on 13 Jan, went for the interview on 14 Jan and got the job on the spot LOL.
I'm working at this shop called CocoCane, which (as the name suggests) sells fresh & 100% pure coconut and sugarcane juice!! I've been working for 3 days since it opened 1 week ago, and so far I really enjoy it leh!!
Perks of the job:
1) Flexible work schedule - While Major Project doesn't require too much of my time, I still have to go for meetings, help out, write reports, analyze data and basically get my A la haha. My boss allows me to work lesser days per week, so I'm still able to do my project while earning some money!!
2) Short work shifts - Work shifts are usually either 4.5h or 8h, which is good because working too long shifts gets me very restless
3) Friendly colleagues - Calling them colleagues sounds too formal but all the other part-timers I'm working with are all super nice and it's been fun working with them! I've also had my fair share of horrible & biased supervisors but my current boss is super chill and nice and helpful and forgiving even when we make mistakes ;_;
4) Location - Only 2 stops away from my house???????? My previous jobs all required 30minutes to 1.5hours traveling time but now I finally have a job nearby!!
5) Uniform (or lackthereof) - Okay la, we have to wear the shop apron and cap but we can wear home clothes!!!!!! As long as it's white/black/brown/dark denim, I can even wear shorts :''') No more uncomfortable jeans!!!!!
It's the first week that WaterwayPoint has been opened so the hype and crowd has not died down yet :-( It's been extremely crowded the past few days and we get REALLY busy (sometimes to the point where we can't eat), but I guess that means time passes faster too LOL. I've been really really pleased with this job so far, so praying that this excitement and happiness lasts for the next few months :-))))
P.S. Today while refilling the ice box, my boss said: "thanks Jerlyn, you're very helpful, I like" and gave me a thumbs up and IT MADE ME SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!
