Perth 2014 (Day 4) - Orchard Glory Farm Resort

Wednesday, July 30, 2014
LET ME START BY SAYING THAT THIS WAS NOT WHAT I HAD EXPECTED FROM A FARM STAY

We reached Orchard Glory Farm Resort at around 5pm and it was already getting dark!!

And you can tell the difference here between a Canon and a Nikon DSLR camera in these 2 pictures. I find that pictures taken with a Canon DSLR has this really soft and dreamy ~feel~ and I quite like it actually
But nonetheless team Nikon all the way ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

We found a portable heater (that Dana is standing in front of) and it was probably the best thing that ever happened to us (and our soaking wet clothes from the Pinnacles Dessert rain) that night :''''''')

And yes the sofas for the the chalets are all different LOL there's a picture of another chalet at the end of this post AND THE SOFAS ARE DIFFERENT TOO

Hahahahahaha spot my Spongebob hoodie reflection

They have a full kitchen (with utensils and everything wtf), a dining table with 6 chairs, 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Mr Chua's chalet but Marilyn and I took this room too!!! Doesn't it look so homely and cozy wtf I cannot take it sia. AND ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING DRENCHED AND COLD AND UNCOMFORTABLE, being welcomed by a cozy and HEATED bed is the best thing T_T
TOILETS WERE ALSO HEATED AND THE SHOWER AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS WORKING FINE

Lol after the 6 of us finished marvelling over the wonder that we call our home (for that one night), we headed out for a ~night~ tour around the farm's wine place storage warehouse factory thing

Beanie cause we cute

This is the farmer from the farm (lol duh) next to Orchard Glory, and he was the one who gave us this tour haha
Here he is talking about how wine is so expensive and how he'd think nobody would want to pay $1000 for a bottle

Putting the cap cover sticker label thing over the cork???????

Upset because we didn't get to drink and test the wine :( :( :( :( :( We were all very slightly below the legal age to consume alcohol :( :(

After the tour, we headed back to wait for dinner....
BUT BUT BUT WE FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAD A ROOM WITH A PING PONG TABLE AND A POOL TABLE????????????????????????????????????
DSC_3345 DSC_3354>
Mr Chua and Emil playing ping-pong aiyo cutest thing I saw that night HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's like the two of them teach the more technical, research side (aka boring) of Psych, and seeing them outside of school (or Singapore for that matter) is just so refreshing and nice??????? I mean it's not like they're super strict in school and all (because none of the Psych tutors are honestly) BUT YOU KNOW LIKE FOR ONCE we don't have to associate them with boring research methods but with fun things like Perth and Ping-Pong!!!

MEANWHILE

This was mutton curry, beef franks, grilled lamb, chicken kebab and cheeeeeeeesy potato gratin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wtf the potatoes were so oily but whatever la I'm in Perth LOL and I even took a second serving of potatoes T_T

I never liked BBQ food because I've always associated BBQ with (sometimes uncooked) chicken wings and (frozen aisle) hot dogs..... BUT THIS ONE IS LIKE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SPECTRUM wowowowowow now my expectations for the subsequent BBQs I go to have just soared way up high wtf T_T T_T T_T

Hanging out with the cool kids HAHAHAHAHA
(and lol wtf I sit until damn unglam wtf wtf)

A lot of the Year 2's who went were from class 01, while Mari and I were from 02. I was afraid that we were going to be outcasts but everyone was so friendly :'''''''"'( Nicole even asked us to hang out with them in their hotel room at night when we barely just started talking to each other :'''''''''( And then when we reached the farm, they also invited us over :'''''''''''(

And the switch for the electric blanket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ended up being so hot I had to remove my blankets wtf LOL because the whole chalet and room was already heated well enough :'''''''''') THAT NIGHT IN BED WAS LITERALLY THE HOTTEST I HAVE EVER BEEN SINCE I REACHED PERTH

Anyway the next day was the coldest morning out of all the morning's we were there, so the heat didn't last too long LOL ok bye!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, July 24, 2014
This week has been super busy and I'm always soOoOOOoooOO tired and frustrated but it's ok I will push on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a random toilet stopover but the place was so pretty T_T
Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled
So much space to roam around in!!!!!!!!!!

At another stopover at (yet again) another hugeeeeeeee wide opened space for our healthy lunch
IT WAS ALSO FREEZING COLD THE WIND NEED TO MAINTAIN SIA HAHAHA
DSC_3259
Look at our takeaway lunch box!!!!!!!! Super fancy and cute sia wtf. I ended up only eating 2 1/2 slices of chicken and 2 bread rolls but shiiiiiiiiiiiiok max

DSC_3266
Emil the Green Ranger who went around collecting "clean plastics" from our leftover lunchboxes
He was so proud of his plastic collection hahahahahaha it was tooooooooo cute

Carlyn and I wanted to visit the toilet and we had to walk(run) quite a fair bit to get there
RUNNING IN THE COLD ALSO DAMN SHIOK it's like instead of getting hotter, you get even colder????????? And it's such a spectacular feeling?????????

It was quite nice to just look ahead and not see any buildings or tall skyscrapers haha
All the super pretty views just made me feel so amazed with the world and God's creation.

Appreciate

Wednesday, July 23, 2014
School is tiring and I am tired and I get so sick of all the assignments I have to finish up

................

But then again I realize that I'm doing things I never thought I'd do, I'm accomplishing things I never thought I'd accomplished, I'm learning things I never thought I'd learn.
I'm also getting pimples I never thought I'd get hahahahhahaha

I'm getting an opportunity that others in the world want but never had... I'd never understand how other people in the world (especially women) will feel because I've had the chance and resources to go to school ever since I was young. I guess it's because I will never understand how they feel, that I really take my education for granted sometimes. And at least I'm studying something I like because seriously speaking, Psychology is something I honestly really enjoy learning about.

So no matter how much I complain, at the end of the day I'm just really, really thankful that I can study.

Sidenote,
GRADES DO NOT AND CANNOT AND WILL NOT DEFINE ME
Got to keep that in mind because as important as it really is, I cannot let grades be more important than my family, friends and most importantly, God.

Okay ByEeeEEee I said I'd get to bed before 2am but it's 2.15am now and I haven't finished my work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perth 2014 (Day 4) - Lancelin Sand Dunes

Sunday, July 20, 2014
DSC_3040 DSC_3041 DSC_3042 DSC_3045 DSC_3051
All these scenery photos were taken from inside the (moving) bus because we didn't get to explore much haha

Lancelin Sand Dunes
Deceivingly scorching hot and warm
BUT REALLY THE COLDEST AND WINDIEST PLACE WE WENT TO no joke no joke at all!!!!!!!!

Had the shock of my (our) life when we went down the bus and realized it was absolutely freezing cold!!!!!!!!!!! Even the sun that was warming the whole bus up, didn't help in heating us at all when we were off the bus lolol

DSC_3059
Brandon, our tour bus driver, teaching us how to properly sandboard

Above 7 pictures credit to Mr Chua

The sand dune doesn't look steep here but IT WAS wtf
It also looks like it was very easy to climb up to the top but IT WASN'T wtf
Now that I'm looking at the photos idk why it looks so calm and peaceful when it was really the total opposite
AND YOU CAN SEE HOW SMALL EVERYBODY LOOKED AND HOW HIGH IT REALLY WAS

DSC_3062 DSC_3065 DSC_3088 DSC_3093 DSC_3098
After much persuasion I convinced myself to go up

DSC_3111
Start of our treacherous and dangerous journey up the mountain of sand doom
Lol can you see me at the bottom left using the sandboard to pull me up

The sandboard isn't very light in the first place, but the wind was so strong it actually blew my sandboard away from me!!!!!!! I don't really remember exactly how it felt lol I just knew it was so scary wtf. Like the winds could just blow me off any minute and send me flying down the hill banging my head on the bus
And it was a sand dune after all so obviously sand went all over our bodies and our face hahahahaha
Sand does not taste very nice
I already wanted to give up but thankfully Mari told me to go on sniff sniff

DSC_3132
AHHHAHAAHAHAHAHHAA THIS WAS THE WORST PART and ya that's me with hair all over my face

It was so embarrassing wtf because I started crying and panicking so so so so much. I wasn't expecting it to be so steep????? And sidenote tears + sand don't go very well together HAHAHA

I was with JunXian, Marilyn and Val, and they all had to wait for me to get over my fear and keep convincing me to just go ahead with the ride. AFTER LIKE 5 MINUTES OF PERSUASION (and reasoning with myself - because if I don't go down, the 3 will go down without me and I'll have to walk down the sand dune ALONE and walking down is probably way riskier than going up wtf), I just pushed myself and the board down AND I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DSC_3153
Ok lol it was all over in a matter of seconds and I don't even remember what it felt like T_______T

I would have gone for a second round but I didn't want to go through that emotional ordeal again wtf
Maybe next time cause I quite regret only going down once :(

DSC_3161
Sand all over my mouth and glasses and hands but not even 1/10 as bad as others HAHAHAHA

So hard to take a decent picture because hair like shit LOL

DSC_3238
Cold aside, the sand dunes were actually really, really pretty
And though it was super cold I would have prefered this waaaaay over the heat HAHAHA

Klarance, Mari and I and the only 3 people from our class who went HAHA
