21 October (Wednesday)
Back to work for more data entry!!!
yo
but in all honesty, I don't mind doing "sai kang" work like this because it requires very little brain resources/knowledge, just a lot of resilience and effort HAHA
Leftover paella that Sydney cooked for dinner the night before which was reaaaaaal good!!!!!
Forgot what happened in between but probably met Mav after work and chilled at home
He got hungry at around 9.30pm.... in Australia 9.30pm is like super late and NO FOOD STORES ARE OPENED ANYMORE. We did find this Yiros shop that open till "late night" so we ate there!!!
Mav's lamb yiros which is basically like a kebab to me la. It was pretty good!!! $12 though so very heart pain because in Singapore, pasar malam kebabs are $4 and Stuff'd burritos (fatter kebabs imo) are like $6.50 only???
22 October (Thursday)
Cleared my data entry and work beforehand so I went out with Mav :-) Super super blessed with a supervisor who allowed us to work from home!!!!
We had breakfast at !!!!Orange Spot Bakery!!!! which my supervisor, Rebecca, recommended us to try. It was opposite Mav's AirBnB so we finally got to try it after walking past multiple times
MAV IS SO CUTE OMG HAHA
The cheese bacon beef steak pie ($5.50) that I chose for us to share!!! Omg so sinful and shiok and wonderfully glorious :'') My only gripe was how salty it was???? Over the 6 weeks in Adelaide, I have realized that "too salty" is a recurring trend in all aussie food I've eaten LOLOL
Mav chose the strawberry doughnut which was huge and pretty good too!!
Very satisfying and filling breakfast that was quite affordable for Australia standards :-) It got pretty crowded after we started eating so thank God we went earlier (~9am)
PLEASE VISIT ORANGE SPOT BAKERY IF IN ADELAIDE, GLENELG OMG
Took a tram to the city, before boarding a bus to North Adelaide to explore for the day
We saw a Salvation's Army shop and I got very excited because I've always wanted to visit a thrift shop!!!
I almost bought the beige cardigan on the left for $8 but decided not to. I ended up getting a bag (here) for $9.25 while Mav bought a book!!!
This visit also inspired us to look for more thrift shops and we went to 2 more afterwards after googling nearby ones :-D
North Adelaide was pretty nice and quiet, even though it's really close to the city. It was mainly just restaurants and cafes though, with a few boutiques here and there. Quite a number of shops were closed despite it only being in the afternoon, but we did see a cinema there!! It didn't look like cinemas in Singapore and it was waaaay classier and nicer but movie timings too late :-(
Mav got kinda hungry and we were just browsing the menu of this italian restaurant, when an Australian lady came up to us exclaiming something like: "omg this is the BEST restaurant!!! we had the xxxx and it was really good!!!". She looked SO ridiculously happy so we decided to listen to her advice HAHAHA
Pretty empty like the rest of North Adelaide that afternoon haha
Mav plz
I was still pretty full from Orange Spot so I didn't get anything, but Mav ordered this real bad ass looking steak with mushroom sauce for $26+ (or more)
THIS JOKER HAHA
But in all seriousness, it was reaaaaaaaaall good!!! Tasted especially good to me because not I pay one + Mav was feeding me after every other bite he had :'') The mushroom sauce was divine lololol
Thought the sign was quite funny like they had to emphasize that it was a real closing down sale LOL
Finished exploring North Adelaide so we decide to walk down the hill to another thrift shop we found near a cathedral
SO PRETTY????????????
Mav saw a pinecone and got very interested lol
(also here u can sort of see Mav helping me carry my newly bought bag because we weren't given a plastic bag hehehe so sw33t)
hehehe was very amused with these pinecone in the air photos LOL
CHIO
Why is their sky so nice??????????????
Reached our 2nd thrift shop of the day: Anglicare Cathedral Fashion!!! I think la haha I just googled it lolol
Mav in his haven
I bought 2 books here for $5!! 1 of them was "Room" (it's just been made into a movie), which I've wanted to read for really long but never wanted to buy it for full price HAHA. Anyway the book ened up being quite draggy and I didn't really like it anyway, so thank God I bought it for cheap hahaha
St Peter's Cathedral!! Which was so tall and huge I couldn't fit it into one picture LOL
Just went in for a short look since we were nearby!!
After exploring North Adelaide, we decided to walk back to the city area/Rundle Mall
Vvvvv happy to be doing touristy shit with Mav :-)))
help we still look ridiculously alike
More selfie shots at another touristy place, the Adelaide Oval (something like a stadium I presume)
HAHAHAHAHAHA I REALLY LOVE THIS PICTURE LOL
"omg mav can u go and pose like that statue for me"
Thank u for always being so so so so so sporting and willing to take so many pictures with/for me ;_;
Saw a rainbow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
En route to 3rd thrift shop of the day which was a really long ass walk from North Adelaide lololol like 25 minutes???
waiting for traffic light shenanigans and selFies
YAY OUR THIRD THRIFT SHOP
Found a really nice pair of Mango jeans......... but alas I cannot fit LOLOL
Didn't manage to get anything from this Salvation's Army :-(
Mav and I were going to have dinner with his Aussie friend, Astrid, who he met while he was interning at Flinders University (the year before me), so we decided to just chill at this park first till it was time to meet her
Lying on the grass cause it's what Australians do too!!!! Can never do this in Singapore lol cause so hot and dirty wtf
this photo looks ridiculously cheesy like a photoshoot thing but we do look quite cute la hor
also it looks DECEIVINGLY HOT in the above photos????????? because it was bloody cold and windy in the park wtf!!!! We were very typical Singaporeans and automatically tried to avoid the sun, so we sat in a shelter and was freezing our butts off..... till Mav said: "eh why are we sitting in the shade when it's so cold ah" HAHA
Er so we moved to the sun but it was still damn cold T_T
Employed my trusty scarf to block me from the cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also here was where a homeless man came to ask us for money and tbh I was legitmately quite scared la. Mostly because he sounded very drunk so I was just clutching my bag (and Mav's arm) real tight in case he grabbed it and ran off hahaha. We gave him about $10, even though he kept asking for more. Mav just kept laughing awkwardly and saying apologetically that we needed money for our dinner later too hahaha.
He continued to talk to us after getting the money but his words were quite incoherent (cause drunk) HAHA. I let Mav do most of the talking because Mav's good at this kind of situations hahaha. I think at one point he thought we were married and "Chinese-Japanese", despite us telling him that we're Singaporeans like 4 times LOL. Eventually he left after about 20 minutes, but it was an interesting experience la I guess HAHA.
Left for dinner after about 1.5 hours of lying in the park (or at least attempting to, since the grass was quite prickly lolol)
Saw this REALLY cool bench with these skeletons and their year of death, along with their life story and how they died written at the front and back!!
Watched birds eat crumbs on the floor hahah quite entertaining
Took a bus to Goodwood and walked around while waiting for Astrid and her boyfriend
Saw this really prettty chair so Mav took a pic for me yay
After waiting and walking around for about 10-15 minutes.............. we realized that we were at the wrong place WTF. Ended up having to take the tram back to the city (where we were originally at) to go to the right place LOL.......................
Didn't take much pictures but we had dinner at Great River Korean BBQ Restaurant, which was nearby Central Market. It was a buffet style but the food was replenished quite slowly (my potato salad that I only ate once T_T). Wasn't the best, but still not bad for a buffet at only $24 nett!!
Also not the biggest fan of korean bbq because I bloat up like CRAAAAZY :-(
But still had space for desserts HAHAHA wtf
Astrid has a car so it was super shiok cause vvv convenient to go anywhere la!!!!
She drove us to this apparently quite famous place, Eggless Dessert Cafe, and it was really crowded leh!! Note that this was around 9.30pm which is considered vvvvv late in Australia hahaha.
Lucky for us we managed to get the last seat indoors (outside was SUPER FREEZING COLD NOT EVEN EXAGERRATING MY TEETH KEPT CHATTERING AND I KEPT SHIVERING) and didn't have to wait hehe
As the name suggests, their desserts are eggless and most should be vegan!!!
Photos not very nice for these desserts cause these were Astrid's and her bf's so I had to sneakily take the pic HAHA. Astrid got some rose cheesecake (which she said tasted like soap LOL) and her bf got a molten chocolate lava cake!!
My sticky date pudding and Mav's avocado peanut chocolate mousse
LOL Mav was quite upset with his mousse because he had originally wanted the molten lava cake. The menu stated that it'd be a 20 minutes wait la, so he decided to choose something else......... but then Astrid's bf's lava cake actually arrived faster than his mousse?????? So needless to say, Mav felt really cheated HAHA. Not that his mousse was bad la, but it was my least fav out of everyone's LOL.
The desserts were about $10-$12 each but they were really good!!!!! I heard the menu changes every month or something but I think it's really worth a visit :-))
Anyway, it was about 10+pm and the buses were almost all gone for the day so Astrid very kindly sent us back to Glenelg ;_;
It was really nice finally meeting her, because Mav has been keeping in contact with her since his internship in Adelaide so I already knew about her months before. Her boyfriend's asian (wuuhuu) and he's very funny also wtf so it was just a vvvv good day!!!!
