OSIP - yes / no?

Monday, May 4, 2015
Advantages of going for the Overseas Student Internship Programme (OSIP):
Chance to intern overseas - Australia leh!!!!! Studying overseas has always intrigued me, but of course that would be SUPER expensive la and I don't know if I can handle being away from home for so many years... Hence, this chance to intern overseas for ~1.5 months is the closest I can ever get to experiencing life (almost) alone overseas :-( ALSO I LOVE AUSTRALIA AND THEIR PEOPLE??

It's a given Pass with Commendation (or so I've heard) - This is equivalent to a Distinction aka the highest ever grade you can get for your internship, which is very shiok???

Other internship possibilities - Besides this and being an intern at IMH, I really have no idea what other organizations I want to intern at because I'm only interested in these 2 yknow??? Also, I heard that IMH is quite strict about their interns selection so it's not confirmed that I'll intern there if I don't go for OSIP. I heard that for last year's batch, nobody was chosen for IMH so that's a huge thing to worry about :-( Also not saying that even if I want to go OSIP, I'd confirm get selected but I kind of think I do have a good chance?

• DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY MORE?????? Maverick (who went last year) keeps telling me it's an opportunity I wouldn't want to miss and Sydney's been telling me follow her and :-(

Advantages of not going for the OSIP:
Saving a lot of money - As much as I wish I could go, this is a huge issue for me because it's $5-7k :-( I wouldn't have to worry so much about money right now or how I'm going to come up with $5000 in less than 5 months or have to be stressed out over buying an $8 shirt because I need to save up????????

Being around in Singapore - Although it is 1.5 months, I'd probably miss out on quite a lot like family outings or gathering with friends... But at least Mav will probably be in army already so I have one less thing to "worry" and be sad about missing out hahaha ((providing we're still going out by then also la)). And also anyway I can always Skype or whatsapp right????

Interning at IMH (possibly) - Like I mentioned above, this is NOT confirmed because I heard that they're very strict about who they select... But if I do get a chance to work there, it'll really be good la cause mental health is something I'm really passionate about. Ms Shahiraa also told me that those who do get a chance to intern there, learn A LOT. Plus IMH is rather near my house hahahaha and that's a huuuuuge plus point already.

HaaaallllppppPPP
