365 days of Mav (and I): How we met

30 March (2 days before conference): 

Prior to this, I (along with 3 other girls) were chosen to do a presentation at the Psychology Student Conference in April about a project we had done in Year 2.2. Our project supervisor was Wah Pheow, and he had wanted us to go back to school that evening to rehearse. WP had booked a room for us to practice in, but we had to share it with another group. That group was also supervised by WP and chosen to present at the conference... and (surprise, surprise) it was Mav's group HAHA. 

I had heard about Maverick before that day la because WP had mentioned him in a few gossip sessions before HAHA. It wasn't the best impression I could have had, but it did leave me thinking that Mav was pretty bad-ass. I also knew he was one of the top scorers for his batch (he's 1 year my senior) and I was already quite impressed. 

So when I first saw him that evening, I was like "eh so that's the Maverick I've heard about" and I thought he was quite cute???? We didn't talk that day and it was more of an EC thing, but I found myself hoping that I'd see him again HAHA. 

1 April (1 day before conference): 

And I did the very next day!!!!!!!!! We had a dry run rehearsal for the conference that day and I only saw him towards the end. I was in a room talking to Hana, while Gabby (lecturer) and a few other seniors were inside as well. Mav then walked in and asked one of the female seniors (his friend): "are you leaving soon?" 

Upon hearing this, Gabby and the seniors all teased Mav and that female senior!!! Mav then said with a straight face: "ya ya I'm asking her out on a date". I later found out after we started dating that he was playing along la cause he was used to the teasing, but at that point I didn't know?? 

I remember Hana even said: "omg I ship!!".......................... and LOL not going to lie, I was quite disappointed :-(. But obviously I couldn't show it since I barely even knew Mav anyway. So I played along lor and responded: "YA THEY SO CUTE TOGETHER" (while my heart kind of cracked a bit lolol). Here is where I kind of just gave up because I thought Mav liked that female senior HAHAHAHA. 

2 April (day of the conference): 

The conference went on as planned and after everything ended, WP asked my group if we had wanted to join him and a few other seniors (incl. Mav) for a celebratory dinner. I was contemplating on whether I should go or not, but decided to go cause WHY NOT. Mav also asked if I was going for the dinner and that was our first conversation haha.

Somewhere here I found out that Mav wasn't romantically involved with anyone (or aforementioned female friend for that matter), so I was obvs quite happy LOL. 

Fast forward to the dinner at Bedok Reservoir: I saw an empty seat next to Mav AND QUICKLY SAT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lololololol damn happy and we even (awkwardly) shared a menu together hahaha. We didn't talk thaaat much, but we did converse a bit here and there la. Mostly just me asking him to repeat what WP had said, because I couldn't hear properly LOL.

I thought that dinner would be the last time I could see Mav since he would graduate in May... BUT before we parted ways, Mav waved bye and said to ME: "see you at FO!" 

Sidenote 1: FO = Freshman Orientation Camp in late April which we were both helping out in 

Of course I was vvvvv happy because:
1) I could see Mav again
2) Did he just say "SEE YOU" to me?????????????????? 

Spoiler: After we started dating, Mav told me that he had said that on purpose to show that he was interested in seeing me again LOL 

Later that night, Mav added me on Facebook and followed me on Twitter.............. which made me even more happy cause SENPAI NOTICED ME

3 - 14 April (after the conference, before FO camp): 

We had to prepare for FO camp in our respective groups during these few days. We were in different groups, so we didn't talk at all. We would, however, acknowledge each other's presence when we saw each other in school (i.e. wave/smile) and this would make me very jittery and excited for the next few hours lolol. It was this period where I realized I was getting more into Maverick than I had anticipated.... probably because I now knew he was single (LOL).

I also remember complaining to Weiling because Mav was hardly active on Twitter and I had nothing to read/interact with. So one day when he FINALLY went on Twitter to retweet something, I quickly went to retweet it too just so my name would appear in his Twitter notifications to make him notice me wtf.

Spoiler 2: ...And he did! (again, I knew because I asked him if my sneaky little plan worked after we started dating) 

15 April (1st day of FO camp): 

Again, we were in different groups so we didn't get to interact much at all. I was an Orientation Group Leader and Mav was a Programmer, meaning he plans and executes games for the new freshmen while I basically lead and bring the freshmen around school. 

The only time I got to see him was when it was my group's turn to go to his game station, like such:

16 April (2nd day of FO camp): 

Maverick TALKED TO ME on this day!!!!!!!!!!!!! My group was playing wet games in the field, while I sat in the shelter accompanying one of my freshies who couldn't play.

Suddenly, Mav came up to me and asked: "can I put my shoes here?" wtf I was so taken aback but had to keep calm and say ok............... After about 10 minutes, he came back to take his shoes and we! had! an! actual! conversation! Went something like this:

M: "Hey! So how's FO?" 
J: "Okay la, it's very tiring... but I'm looking forward to Final Clash later on!!!" 

Sidenote 2: Final Clash is the game Mav's group is in charge of and organized, LOLOLOLOLOL at my attempt to show him I'm paying attention to him 

M: "Oh you can play?" 

Sidenote 3: He thought I was sitting in the shelter because I was on my period (I wasn't) and couldn't play the wet games, which Final Clash was 

J: "Yea can! I'm just accompanying my freshie now"  
M: "Ah okay! See you later!" 

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
immediately:
- freaked out
- went on twitter to spam heart-eyed emojis (which I deleted cause I later remembered that he follows me.... lol cannot be too excited)
- spam texted weiling telling her about it
- freaked out somemore
- reenacted the entire conversation to my groupmate (shoutout to debbie) after they were done with wet games
- freaked out together

17 April (3rd & last day of FO camp): 

After the conference dinner till that day, I had a plan: Take a picture with Maverick after FO camp ended, because it'd be my last chance to do so before he graduates. To make sure I actually carried out the plan without backing out like a coward, I told some of my closer friends in my group lolololol. This is so that if I ever do start to back out, they can persuade me or be my wing(wo)man and help me HAHA. 

So eventually.............................. it was the end of the camp and as expected, I GOT SO SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was freaking out (in a bad way) because he was already walking away to his own debriefing somewhere else ;_; if I missed this chance, who knows when I'd see him again?????

Luckily I told my friends beforehand lolol because eventually one of them, Kristine, was like: "You want to take picture with him or not????? I help you ask him!!!" 

And she did!!! Mav and I always say that she's our matchmaker because she literally ran after Maverick (who she doesn't even know personally) to tell him that someone wanted a photo with him. 

And it happened!!!!!!!!
I may or may not have stared at the photo multiple times during my debriefing........................................................ may or may NOT 

Felt very paiseh to make him walk all the way back to take pic with me, so I apologized and he was like: "Oh, no it's okay!" in his vvvvvv nice voice omg *crumbles to pieces*. I was also TREMBLING when I put my hand on his back because I was super happy & nervous!! After we took the picture, I thanked him and he walked away and I thought: "this is it lor, no more seeing Mav again"

But! then! he! turned! around!!!!!!!!!!

M: "Hey wait... Are you going for the Wah Pheow thing next week?". 
J: "Huh what Wah Pheow thing? He never say anything leh" 
M: "Haha you ask him la!" 
J: "Walao he bojio sia but ok ok" 

Spoilet 3: Mav later told me that he already knew I was definitely not going cause only graduated seniors (like him, not me) were going... but he still asked anyway AGAIN to hint that he wanted to see me LOL 

18 April (past midnight after FO Camp): 

After I took the photo, I reached home feeling a bit more brave and decided to proceed with part B of my plan: TALK TO MAVERICK

I kept trying to psycho myself to make the first move and finally became brave enough to open twitter to DM him 30 minutes later. But just as I was on Mav's twitter profile, about to click on the DM button 

...MAVERICK BEAT ME TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my heart was pounding so so so so so so hard I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw @mavyapsy in my notifications WTF 

No time to think just send whatever message I had planned to continue the conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

So we continued talking for quite a fair bit :))) helped that we were from the same course so we talked about the one thing we knew we had in common: school LOL

But I took the vvvvvvvvv obvious hint and immediately texted him so his plan worked la LOL

19 April (2 days after FO camp): 

Mav told me that he was working that day in Bugis+, getting people to do surveys. He also not so subtlely said that I "can come down and help" if I'm free LOL. 

I told him I had an event to go to on that day (which I did) so I most likely wouldn't be free to find him. Halfway through my event, I decided that I really wanted to go and see him. I even remember telling Weiling: "I'm going to be doing something possibly very stupid and ridiculous but wish me luck" HAHA. 

So I did... and took an impromptu 45min journey after my event in Hougang to Bugis, w/o telling Mav 

   

quite embarrassing to look back cause I used so many "HAHAHAHAHA"s.............. LOL

It wasn't that awkward thankfully, because I was just doing the survey for him so we had something to "talk" about. He couldn't leave Bugis+ (cause work) so he walked me till the bridge to Bugis Junction which was nice :) 

Later on in the evening...

He asked me out for a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to which I readily and immediately agreed to HAHA to heck with playing hard to get!!!

20 April (Monday):  
Mav asked me out for dinner after my first day of school and that was our vvvv first date!!!

22 April (Wednesday): 
2 days later, we went on our second date (& watched Fast & Furious 7)

23 April (Thursday): 
And the third...

26 April (Sunday): 
And the fourth :) All within a week wtf we so happening

Somewhere in May: 
as a bonus for reaching the end of this post... here's 2 sneaky shots some of my friends took when they found out we were dating LOL

I feel like this is where I should say "The End"... but it's really not the end yet la HAHAHA
